Pledge to volunteer in the new year!

December 7, 2022

Raised hands

One thing I have learned as a marketer on a small team is that making content that serves multiple audiences or multiple purposes is invaluable. The same goes for our efforts in life. We only have limited energy and hours in the day so we need to be efficient—this is how I approach New Year's resolutions.

In 2022, some of the most popular resolutions included "living healthier," "personal improvement or happiness," and "career or job goals" (source). If these are on your list for 2023, you may be thinking of a handful of tactics to achieve them; consider, however, how volunteering could help you with all three! Studies show that volunteering can lead to a healthier and happier life and even benefit your career through networking and skill-building (source).

When we shift how we think about volunteering as more than an act that helps others; and as something that helps us too, it becomes a powerful means through which we can actively realize our goals. Maybe you want to get out of your comfort zone, try something new, and meet new people. Or are craving purpose and a way to utilize your passions?

We all have a lot of goals. The right volunteer activity can help! For me, I want to live healthier and dedicate time to my passions by practicing more yoga. If I volunteer as a yoga instructor, I can do this and meet new people!

What are you resolved to do in 2023, and how can volunteering help?
