Oakland, CA – October 19, 2020 – So many of us have been asking this year what will it take to make things sustainably better in this country? The Academy Award-nominated and multi-Emmy Award-winning team of Kahane Cooperman and John Hoffman, respectively, believe they have the answer in their upcoming film, The Antidote. VolunteerMatch is excited and honored to partner with them to help this documentary drive a national conversation about the roles that kindness, decency, compassion, and respect play in a civilized, democratic society.
“Talk about a powerful spark of light to lift us all up during times when we feel as if we’re in prolonged darkness. Even if it’s just enough light like what’s provided by the strike of a match, with it comes the hope that light indeed dispels any shadow. The Antidote is that kind of work, and the best thing about it is that all Americans – wherever they are – can apply the nuggets of the stories within it to their own acts of intentional kindness. Then, it can spread like flipping the switch on backyard string lights all across this country!” – Laura Plato, Chief Solutions Officer, VolunteerMatch
VolunteerMatch is hosting an online special screening of The Antidote on October 20 and 21, 2020 – followed by an online community conversation on October 22nd. During the conversation viewers can make connections and share ideas of how to lift up each other in their own communities. Thereafter, The Antidote will be available via VOD on October 27th.
