This Sunday, February 26th, millions of people will tune in to watch Hollywood’s most glamorous walk the red carpet and recognize the best of the Silver Screen at the Oscars. Seeing what everyone is wearing and which movie wins Best Picture is always a good time, but what we’re even more excited for here at VolunteerMatch are a different set of upcoming awards: The 6th Annual Corporate Volunteer Awards.

Each year VolunteerMatch honors members of our network of clients and partners that display extraordinary excellence in employee volunteer engagement. The winners are presented at the annual Client Summit, this year happening in San Francisco May 17-18.

The point of the Awards is to inspire companies in the VolunteerMatch network and across the country to new heights of impact. “Winning companies serve as shining examples for how others can make the most of VolunteerMatch tools to engage their employees and impact their communities,” says Vicky Hush, Vice President of Client Services & Strategic Partnerships at VolunteerMatch.

There are four awards that our corporate partners strive to win each year: ‘Employee Volunteer Program of the Year for Large Businesses,’ ‘Employee Volunteer Program of the Year for Small-Medium Businesses,’ ‘Champions of the Year,’ and ‘Breakout Performance.’ The first two identify the most effective employee volunteer programs in our family of corporations compared against 2011 benchmarks, and the second two are chosen by VolunteerMatch for the most dedicated staff at corporate volunteer programs and the most impressive new programs.

In the weeks leading up to the Client Summit we’ll be highlighting the finalists for the Employee Volunteer Program of the Year Awards. So stay tuned over the next couple of months for more details on the glitziest event of the employee volunteering world – we’ll be announcing the nominees soon!
