The 37th National Volunteer Week kicks off on April 10, with the theme this year of “Celebrating People in Action.” This special week of activities and events has become an annual spotlight on those who generously donate their time, energy, and skills to helping local communities.
NVW11 offers a number of ways employee volunteers can get involved and program managers can recognize their volunteer champions.
Many of our clients celebrate the week by holding company-wide service days and appreciation events for employees who have volunteered. To get you started – whether you are an employee leader or a team administrator – Points of Light Institute and HandsOn Network have prepared an online toolkit [pdf] with strategies for NVW success. Within the toolkit, volunteers can find project inspiration, volunteer leader resources, marketing ideas, and solutions for honoring and championing volunteers throughout the week.
For corporate volunteer program managers, NVW 2011 will be a time for working together as a team, community or workforce to meet social challenges and accomplish goals that improve the quality of life for our fellows. Ultimately, NVW is about action, social change and positive transformation. So don’t forget to tell us about the change your National Volunteer Week activities helped to create!
