This month we’re focusing on the future…
When was the last time you were truly wowed and inspired by a nonprofit tech conference? For Debra Askanase, it’s been a while. In this post she calls for these conferences to return to their roots as disruptors, and present to our rapidly developing field some new and exciting ideas upon which to build.
Many of the major studies done about volunteerism today don’t include data about virtual volunteering. It’s time for that to change, says Jayne Cravens. She presents some info she collected from a survey she did last year, and calls for research institutions and anyone else doing volunteering studies to recognize virtual volunteering as an established and important part of the field.
We were thrilled to hear that our friends over at the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) had appointed Amy Sample Ward as their new CEO. Amy’s experience, tech-savvy and undeniable people skills are a great fit to lead NTEN to even bigger and better things. Read her note to the community.
It might be cheating, but we could not resist including this video made by one of our student interns. As a high schooler, Lauren literally IS the future, and her view of volunteer engagement and inspiration brings tears to our eyes.
