Each Friday we end the week on Engaging Volunteers by posting a few of the latest and greatest meaty documents from the VolunteerMatch Volunteering Resource Library on the IdeaEncore Network for you to peruse. It’s a great way for your nonprofit to share what you know, learn from others, and even earn revenue.
- Who Exactly are the Customers of a Nonprofit Organization?
In this article from the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Mark Kramer argues that every nonprofit institution has three indispensable “customers.” Failure to serve any one, while tolerable in the short run, will sooner or later undermine the organization’s survival.
- Will Retiring Boomers Form a New Army of Volunteers?
This study looks at older adults retiring between 1996 and 2004 to see who engages in formal volunteering after retirement. The results show that while most volunteers acquire the volunteer habit while still working, a significant share begins volunteer work after retirement.
