Get to Know the New Girl: Let’s Work Together to Make a Difference

Hello everyone!  I’m Shari Ilsen, the new Online Communications Manager at VolunteerMatch.  Since I’ll be contributing quite a bit on this blog and other VolunteerMatch networks, I want to give you all some background about me and what I’ll be doing.

I moved from the Boston area to the Bay Area for college and fell in love with the California lifestyle.  While at Stanford I became involved with nonprofits and decided to continue exploring after graduation.  I spent some time working at an innovative startup called GreatNonprofits, and then moved on to work with Net Impact for a while.  Finally, I’ve found my new home here at VolunteerMatch.  I spend my free time running, eating, exploring the wonderful quirks of San Francisco, and geeking out over all things related to nonprofits and volunteering.

My role as Online Communications Manager at VolunteerMatch is to act as one of the voices of the VolunteerMatch team.  I’ll also be behind the scenes here digging up and posting anything exciting that’s going on at VolunteerMatch and in the nonprofit world.  I’ll be making sure that you have the knowledge and access you need to take advantage of all the great things VolunteerMatch has to offer.

Now that you know a bit about me, I want to know about you!

  • What’s most important in your world?
  • What’s the newest cool thing you’re excited about?
  • How can VolunteerMatch best help you recruit and manage volunteers, so YOU can focus on the important work of making the world a better place?

These are not rhetorical questions, so please connect with me by commenting below or via Facebook or Twitter, and stay tuned for more ideas, news, and tips from VolunteerMatch.
