A New Intern Joins the Team!

Hello VolunteerMatch community, thank you for welcoming me! My name is Elyse Bernstein, and I will be a part of the VolunteerMatch team this summer as the Marketing & Insights Intern. My time here will be spent exploring the work of our corporate partners to provide information that will help strengthen relationships and discover how our organization can best satisfy the needs of the volunteer engagement community. I will also contribute to online discussions to help spread the positive message VolunteerMatch represents.

I am currently a Graduate Student of the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC Santa Barbara. My focus is on Eco-Entrepreneurship and Corporate Environmental Management, which strives to introduce sustainable initiatives into business practices. In my spare time I serve as President for our local Net Impact chapter where I organize opportunities for peers to get involved in the community and bring educational speakers to the university. When I am not consumed with school I relax through discovering new music, teaching myself to play the drums, exploring the streets on my long-board or the mountains on my snowboard (weather permitting!).

I am an Arizona native, born and raised in Tucson, but grew up partially overseas. Through my family’s antique import business I have been able to experience a fair amount of traveling, and feel this has contributed largely to my character and ideals. From my studies and travels I’ve become aware of how individuals can impact their surroundings and see great importance in volunteer work, not only for ecological health, but for social health as well. VolunteerMatch stands out as an excellent source for community involvement and social betterment, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of your team!
