We invited reporters from Justmeans.com to this year’s Client Summit in Chicago, where they captured interviews with administrators from many of the nation’s most effective corporate volunteer engagement programs.
Amelie is the founder and director of Volontärbyrån, which is kind of like the European version of VolunteerMatch in Sweden. Amelie spent about a month earlier in the year working in the VolunteerMatch office in San Francisco, where we were all able to learn from each other and exchange ideas about connecting good people to good causes.
In this interview with Jason Shaw from Justmeans, Amelie discusses how valuable it was for her to attend the Client Summit and meet firsthand people from great examples of employee volunteer programs in the U.S. She especially enjoyed the panel on program measurement and how tracking metrics from the beginning can lead to an improved program with minimal work on the back end.
Amelie describes some differences between corporate volunteering in the U.S. vs. Europe. While more than 90% of the Fortune 500 have some sort of corporate volunteer program in the U.S., Amelie says less than 10% of European companies have the same. Sounds like Amelie and Volontärbyrån have their work cut out for them!
