Calling All Environmental Nonprofits: Arbor Day Foundation Will Help You Recruit Volunteers

Guest post by Mary Widhelm, Arbor Day Foundation

Recruit environmental volunteers at arbordaynow.orgFall is an ideal time to get outside and connect your volunteers with the outdoors. Planting trees, cleaning up a neighborhood park and restoring natural habitats are just a few ways people can make a difference. The Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota want to help you get the volunteers you need.

As an added benefit to VolunteerMatch nonprofit members, any environment-themed listing posted to VolunteerMatch.org will automatically be displayed on the Arbor Day Foundation’s newest resource, the arbordaynow.org Volunteer Center. The Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota will also provide a free upgrade to Community Leader status to convey appreciation for the work done by nonprofits to plant and care for trees and protect natural resources.

If you are an organization committed to environmental stewardship, register with the Arbor Day Foundation and VolunteerMatch will create a Community Leader account for you.

Nonprofits across the country are already generating enthusiasm and recruiting volunteers through this innovative resource. Check out the testimonials below:

“The arbordaynow.org Volunteer Center was great for us in getting the word out for our spring planting! We received lots of interest from individual students and student groups. One local business picked it up and brought coffee to our planting event, which helped us recruit more volunteers. We’ll use the Volunteer Center again in the fall for our Sustainability Week tree planting. Thanks Arbor Day Foundation for all the help with our tree planting projects!”

“In conjunction with other members of my company’s Green Team, we thought it would be a great idea to invite all our employees (approx. 200 in 9 offices nationwide) to local community events around Earth Day. I found the Volunteer Center of the Arbor Day Foundation website to be an incredible help. I was able to enter the zip codes of all our offices, and quickly find local events and contacts. Needless to say, the information we received helped make our first company-wide “green” service event a great success. Thank you!”
